Songwriting Commissions
February 6th, 2010Learning to sing with Eva
February 6th, 2010The philosophy of song
When not performing, Eva’s other passion is teaching others how to express themselves through song. She firmly believes that everybody has the ability to sing. It is simply a question of finding a comfortable environment, freeing one’s inhibitions and learning to listen.
“The voice is the ultimate expression of who we really are. So by carefully tracking the ability of an individual and tailoring lessons to their needs, I can maximise their progress as a singer.”
Eva has taught hundreds of singers, from jazz, stage and pop professionals to absolute beginners and those who simply want to sing for fun.

DARK VOICE WITH ENORMOUS RANGE
January 27th, 2004BRUCK, AUSTRIA. Eva Campbell-Haidl at the Forstschule performed a rocky-souly-jazzy concert yesterday.
Born in Bruck, the artist now lives in London and the audience could see for themselves that the talented singer truly polished her abilities over the last few years.
That a singer has a voice, is being taken for granted. But rarely does anybody master such an enormous musical range like Campbell showed last night. Sting’s rocky “Every breath you take” was as brilliant as Gershwin’s classic “Summertime” in a reggae version. As well as being totally at home in jazz, black soul seems to suit her dark sounding voice down to the ground too.

BRUCK, LONDON and CANNES
May 23rd, 2003STYRIAN OF THE DAY
Eva Campbell-Haidl has written the title track for a new film.
The film is called “One Love”- named after the famous song title by Bob Marley. “One by One” is the title track of the film and it has been written by Eva Campbell, born in Bruck/Mur. Bob Marley¹s son, Ky-Mani Marley plays the lead role. “One by One” has brought the 28 year old to the film premiere in Cannes. “One love” is set in Jamaica, where two societies: Christians and Rasta people, clash. “If everybody contributes a little bit, we can all live together”, is Campbell¹s addition to the philosophy of the film, which is identical to the message of her music.
Un-influenced
The musical path was not genetically pre-arranged for her. “I¹m the only one in the family who chose music as a career.” Her parents and sister Carmen live in Bruck, her father is the chairman of a building construction company, her mother a psychotherapist. Her brother Hannes studies law in Graz. For Campbell, Cannes was the first step into the film music world. “Once you¹re in, you can make a difference and get your message heard by a much bigger audience.”
Roots
Eva Campbell writes songs, which are based on the musical outskirts of pop. She first studied Jazz at the university for performing arts in Graz and later on went to London to complete a postgraduate course in jazz and studio music at the Guildhall School for Music and Drama.
This is where she lives today with her Canadian husband Colin.
In September, the singer, lyricist, composer and pianist will release a CD and in November she will give a concert in Bruck.
