Since then, many friends and colleagues have approached her to write and perform songs for special projects and personal occasions like weddings and anniversaries.

Though uniquely personal in every sense, Eva’s skills are now available to the public. If you are interested in having a song written and performed at any occasion, please contact her.

And even if you don’t need a song written, why not simply learn to sing?

The philosophy of song

When not performing, Eva’s other passion is teaching others how to express themselves through song. She firmly believes that everybody has the ability to sing. It is simply a question of finding a comfortable environment, freeing one’s inhibitions and learning to listen.

“The voice is the ultimate expression of who we really are. So by carefully tracking the ability of an individual and tailoring lessons to their needs, I can maximise their progress as a singer.”
Eva has taught hundreds of singers, from jazz, stage and pop professionals to absolute beginners and those who simply want to sing for fun.

One to one tuition

With any subject, the key to effective learning is effectively structured tuition. That in mind, Eva’s lessons are divided into to distinct halves: one covering the technical aspects of voice production, posture and breath control, and the other simply exploring the sort of music the singer would like to learn.

Body awareness and voice training are essential for powerful, effortless self-expression, so the first half consists of exercises and tuition in the following areas:

Breath control

Head voice- chest voice

Support

Projection

Expanding range

Voice placement

Flexibility

Then the theory is put into practice. Using the student’s chosen music, the second part looks at the connection between melody, words, expression and phrasing to produce a uniquely personal interpretation of each song. Students also learn to improvise, enabling themselves discover their own musical creativity.
In short, Eva’s individual approach to teaching effectively inspires students to literally create their own songs. Her sessions last for 1 hour and cost £40.00.

Quote:
“I am a singer/songwriter and find Eva to be both inspirational and outstanding as a teacher on all levels - from singing technique to musicianship and personal development. She is vital to my growth as a powerful and unique singer.”

Minna Walker

Group work

Eva has worked with many choirs in England and Europe. She has lead gospel workshops, group classes for people who have never sung before, conducted choir concerts and taught groups of children aged 3 to 17.

If you are interested in booking Eva, please contact her

Up and coming group workshops will be advertised on this page.

A Harrow singer and song-writer touches and inspires her audience with her powerful lyrics and unique voice.

Eva Campbell, 29, started singing in a school choir when she was at school in Austria. At ten years old she started playing the piano. She was the youngest pupil to be accepted into the University for Music and Performing Arts in Graz. She studied jazz singing under Mark Murphy, Andy Bey and Jay Clayton.

Eva, from Glenwood Close moved to London in 1995 where she completed a post-graduate diploma in jazz and studio music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Eva has worked extensively as a featured soloist and with supporting musicians. She has performed in concert at the Barbican and a variety of leading clubs and hotels in London.

In addition she has co-written the lyrics for a title of a track of the movie One Love which stars Bob Marley’s son Ky-mani Marley, which is released in May this year.

She is also working on her first solo album entitled Shamelessly Expressed. The title means that you should not feel ashamed to express yourself. Eva said: “I know many people that can sing and they just need to be encouraged to take the next step.”

Eva’s rise and success has come from her Dream Team. Eva never wanted a manager, she wanted certain people to help her dream come true.

The Dream Team consists of eight talented individuals, none, of whom had previously worked in music but they all have a love for music. She recently completed her first project of a solo concert that was held at Camden last month.
Eva also teaches singing on a one to one basis.

Eva said: “My main aim is to use my skills of either performing songs or teaching songs to inspire people.”
“I feel really moved when ever anyone comes up to me and thanks me for my performance as it has touched them in a certain way.”

Instead of getting hard-nosed music execs to run her affairs, Eva has hired a bunch of her friends from Camden Town to organise her professional life, leaving her to concentrate on the creative side of things.

BRUCK, AUSTRIA. Eva Campbell-Haidl at the Forstschule performed a rocky-souly-jazzy concert yesterday.

Born in Bruck, the artist now lives in London and the audience could see for themselves that the talented singer truly polished her abilities over the last few years.
That a singer has a voice, is being taken for granted. But rarely does anybody master such an enormous musical range like Campbell showed last night. Sting’s rocky “Every breath you take” was as brilliant as Gershwin’s classic “Summertime” in a reggae version. As well as being totally at home in jazz, black soul seems to suit her dark sounding voice down to the ground too.

Also very impressive were her own compositions.
Excellent musicians who were originally put together for the recording of a CD accompanied the singer. There was Ilse Riedler on saxophone, Miki Liebermann from Ostbahn-Kurtis Chefpartie and Bruck¹s own Werner Radzik.
A lot of ex-teachers, friends and of course the usual Forstschul-audience came.
Everybody agreed the verdict: One of the best concerts of the last few years.
Franz Pototschnig

“One of the best concerts of the last few years.”

STYRIAN OF THE DAY

Eva Campbell-Haidl has written the title track for a new film.

The film is called “One Love”- named after the famous song title by Bob Marley. “One by One” is the title track of the film and it has been written by Eva Campbell, born in Bruck/Mur. Bob Marley¹s son, Ky-Mani Marley plays the lead role. “One by One” has brought the 28 year old to the film premiere in Cannes. “One love” is set in Jamaica, where two societies: Christians and Rasta people, clash. “If everybody contributes a little bit, we can all live together”, is Campbell¹s addition to the philosophy of the film, which is identical to the message of her music.

Un-influenced

The musical path was not genetically pre-arranged for her. “I¹m the only one in the family who chose music as a career.” Her parents and sister Carmen live in Bruck, her father is the chairman of a building construction company, her mother a psychotherapist. Her brother Hannes studies law in Graz. For Campbell, Cannes was the first step into the film music world. “Once you¹re in, you can make a difference and get your message heard by a much bigger audience.”

Roots

Eva Campbell writes songs, which are based on the musical outskirts of pop. She first studied Jazz at the university for performing arts in Graz and later on went to London to complete a postgraduate course in jazz and studio music at the Guildhall School for Music and Drama.

This is where she lives today with her Canadian husband Colin.
In September, the singer, lyricist, composer and pianist will release a CD and in November she will give a concert in Bruck.
